Risk of Rain 2 DLC Hallowed Concepts Reveals Two New Survivors
Gearbox Software and 2K Games have released a character gameplay showcase video for Hallowed Concepts (万象归衡), the newly announced DLC for Risk of Rain 2. The footage fully demonstrates the skills, combat styles, and base mechanics of the expansion’s two new playable survivors. The DLC’s digital store page is already live, although no release date has been officially confirmed. Gearbox notes that Hallowed Concepts requires ownership of the base game in order to play.
The centerpiece of the showcase is the two new survivors, who occupy clearly distinct roles and are designed to suit different approaches to play. The video demonstrates each character’s base skills, secondary attacks, and ultimate abilities in action, alongside combat sequences showing them fighting the DLC’s new enemies in the new environments. Risk of Rain 2 is a 3D action roguelike looter-shooter known for randomized maps, heavy item stacking, and four-player co-op, and the developers note the new survivors also bring unique synergies in multiplayer squads.
Hallowed Concepts sets its story in the N’Kuhana cult region of the planet Petrichor V, introducing three new scenes: damp caverns, a gloomy swamp village, and an eerie temple. Players will confront curse trials and new monsters there. Beyond the two survivors, the expansion adds three new levels, three new bosses, four new enemy types, two new item categories, and three standard items, including one lunar item and two boss-exclusive items. New survivor skins and a special artifact called N’tormat are also included.
The DLC also introduces N’Kuhana Trials, described as a high-risk challenge mode where players can take on higher difficulty and earn exclusive rewards. According to the developers, the expansion continues the game’s signature fast-paced combat and item-building loop, retains the original’s strange fantasy art style, and leans into oppressive enemy design, with trial stages aimed at giving veteran players a fresh challenge. Risk of Rain 2 is available on PC platforms, PS5, Xbox, and Switch, and the DLC can be wishlisted ahead of its launch. For fans who want a tougher endgame, this is one to keep an eye on.
