OmOchim Sandbox Game Headed to Tokyo Game Show 2026

Asovism has announced that its upcoming sandbox title OmOchim will appear at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held from September 17 to September 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The game challenges players to combine everyday objects into physical mechanisms that actually move. Using block-based visual programming, players direct their own robot companion, the OmOchim. The title will be shown at two venues during the event: the General Exhibition and the Family Game Park. The announcement follows the launch of the game’s digital storefront page on August 24, 2026, and marks the 30th anniversary edition of the show, which runs for a record five days.

Asovism will exhibit OmOchim at the General Exhibition, located in Hall 7 at booth 07-C01, and at the Family Game Park. At the General Exhibition, attendees can try a robot programming course that uses the game’s built-in programming features to control a physical OmOchim robot. The Family Game Park runs from September 19 to 21 at TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall inside the “Asobiba!” area, booth A-9, with free admission limited to junior high students and younger plus their accompanying guardians. Its demo build is described as more programming-focused than the version playable in the main hall.

At the Family Game Park, twelve trial stations will be available. Rather than a single correct answer, the game encourages players to think, build, and test repeatedly before release. The OmOchim robot also appears in physical form: controlled through a dedicated app, it runs across a table where players freely arrange roads and buildings to create their own course and guide it to the goal. The booth adopts the game’s world with gear decorations on the walls, a roughly 1.5-meter tall three-dimensional object, and original cardboard stools, set on an open, three-sided layout covered with artificial turf.

OmOchim has already been used in educational and hands-on settings at home and abroad. Past appearances include a workshop in Houston in the United States, a trial exhibition at gamescom in Germany, classes at a private school in Japan, and an event hosted by the Nagano Prefecture Board of Education. On the final day, September 21, Asovism will hold a kids-stage session from 14:10 to 14:40 titled “OmOchim de, dare demo tanoshiku programming ni challenge!” with quiz activities for parents and children. Trial players receive original novelties such as a cap, hand towel, eraser, and pencil while supplies last. No release date or pricing has been announced. This is one to watch for fans of creative, education-focused sandbox games.
