Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Adds Kim Kaphwan on September 24
SNK has confirmed that Kim Kaphwan will join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as a downloadable character on September 24, 2026. The announcement makes him the third DLC fighter in Season 3, which carries the theme “DESTINED FOR REVENGE.” Kim debuted in Fatal Fury 2 back in 1992 and is known as South Korea’s strongest Taekwondo master, making his return a notable moment for long-time followers of the franchise.
According to SNK, Kim Kaphwan believes Taekwondo is the world’s strongest martial art and fights evil under the motto “Evil is unforgivable.” In City of the Wolves, his sons Kim Dong Hwan and Kim Jae Hoon are already playable, meaning the Kim family appears together as playable characters in the same title for the first time. SNK describes Kim as a great fighter who remains a goal for his two sons, still training relentlessly in pursuit of greater strength despite his master status.

The press release outlines a story thread in which Kim travels to South Town to visit Griffon Mask, who has been looking after his sons. During their time together, the grown sons finally share feelings they had kept hidden, setting up a narrative about family bonds and clashing convictions. Players can try Kim Kaphwan early at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe, Hall 1, booth 01-C13, at the CFD Sales (Crowxis) booth.

Season 3 will add seven DLC characters in total. Rick Strowd and Duck King arrive ahead of Kim Kaphwan, while October brings the fourth DLC slot with Sano Manjiro (Mikey) and Ryuguji Ken (Draken) released together. A character named Raocoon is planned for November, with a mystery fighter set for December. The title is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. SNK also notes a 40% discount on the digital edition bundling Season Pass 1 and 2, dropping from 5,170 yen (~$35 / ~¥250) to 3,102 yen (~$21 / ~¥150). For fans who grew up with Fatal Fury, seeing the Kim family finally line up together is a genuine highlight.
