Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Adds Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star
SNK has officially announced an epic crossover between Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and the classic manga series Fist of the North Star. The popular character Kenshiro (ケンシロウ) will join the fighting game roster as a DLC character in June as part of Season Pass 2. The developer released a teaser trailer showcasing the character’s arrival in the game’s universe. This marks a significant collaboration between two iconic Japanese franchises, bringing the “Savior of the Century’s End” into the digital version of South Town.
Kenshiro is the 64th successor of the Hokuto Shinken martial art, known as the “Savior of the Century’s End” who fights evil in a post-nuclear wasteland. His distinctive features include the seven-star scar on his chest, his signature battle cry, and his famous catchphrase “You are already dead.” SNK has faithfully recreated the character’s classic moves, including the “Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken” (Hundred Crack Fist) as a high-speed combo, the “Ganzan Rippa” (Rock Mountain Two Slash Wave) with its skull-splitting visual impact, and the “Hokuto Zankai Ken” (Hokuto Remorse Fist) with its pressure point activation effects.
The game design team emphasized that Kenshiro’s combat system blends the “softness and hardness” philosophy from the original series. His skill tree includes the “Nishikyuu Shinkuu Ha” (Two-Finger Vacuum Wave) for arrow deflection counterattacks, the “Koushu Hagan Ken” (Cross-Head Broken Face Fist) knee strike pressure point technique, and the ultimate secret technique “Musou Tensei” (Unconscious Transmigration). According to SNK, the character will feature unique “clothes tearing” battle sequences on the South Town stage. When his rage meter fills, his tattered cloak and rough voice will trigger a combat power multiplier effect, perfectly recreating the classic “clothes tearing equals power boost” mechanic from the original series.
To prepare for Kenshiro’s arrival, the game has received comprehensive optimization upgrades. Servers have been expanded to handle potential increases in online match demand, the graphics engine has been enhanced to improve the visual performance of the REV System, and the sound team has re-recorded the distinctive pressure point sound effects and battle cries specific to Fist of the North Star. This crossover is a key part of the second season DLC plan for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Since the game’s April 24, 2025 release, Season Pass 2 has already introduced characters including Kim Jae-hoon, Nightmare Geese, and Blue Mary. Kenshiro will serve as the June finale character, completing the Season Pass 2 roster alongside a mysterious character scheduled for May release. Season Pass 2 follows a “one new character per month” update strategy, representing SNK’s innovation in continuous content delivery. The fighting game community has responded enthusiastically to this crossover announcement.
