Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War IV Delayed to Dec 3, Early Access Nov 30
KING Art Games has announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, the upcoming real-time strategy title set in the far-future Warhammer 40,000 universe, will now launch on December 3, 2026. The release date change was confirmed alongside a dedicated trailer and an updated Year One roadmap. Players who purchase the Commander Edition will receive a three-day early unlock, allowing them to start playing on November 30. The game marks the return of the beloved Dawn of War series, delivering dynamic and strategic battles powered by a new combat command system and rendered with modern graphics.
According to the developer, the delay is driven by performance optimization, bug fixes, and gameplay polish, along with additional feedback gathered from recent community playtests. Creative Director Jan Theisen said the team sees the extra time as an opportunity to further evolve the game and deliver the best possible experience from day one. KING Art Games also plans to share Battlefield Reports, gameplay reveals, and developer commentary over the coming months leading up to release.

Alongside the new date, KING Art Games published a Year One roadmap that includes free updates such as the return of Crusade Mode, plus new maps, modes, commanders, and a mission editor. Two large story expansions are also planned, deepening the conflict on the planet Kronos and introducing new playable factions post-launch. Both editions are currently available for pre-order at a 10 percent discount. Specific dates for post-launch content will be announced at a later time.
Dawn of War IV features four playable factions across multiple campaigns, including the Necrons of the Zarekan Dynasty, whose latest trailer shows them restoring tombs, gathering the Dominion resource, and awakening ancient war machines to reclaim Kronos from lesser races. Multiplayer emphasizes map control and momentum, with Space Marines boasting overwhelming firepower while Orks can quickly turn the tide if given time to build numbers. Last Stand and Skirmish modes are also included alongside tense player-versus-player battles. The game launches on PC on December 3, 2026, published by Deep Silver / PLAION. Given how beloved this series is, the delay is unfortunate — but the expanded roadmap suggests the extra wait may well be worth it.
