Tales, Sakura Wars Designer Fujishima Kosuke’s 40th Art Exhibition
An original art exhibition celebrating 40 years of Fujishima Kosuke’s career has been announced. Fujishima, widely known as the character designer behind the Tales series and the Sakura Wars series, will have his works displayed in Tokyo and Osaka. The Tokyo run takes place at Yurakucho Marui from September 18 to October 4, 2026, followed by Osaka’s Namba Marui from October 30 to November 15. Titled “Fujishima Kosuke Original Art Exhibition – 40th Debut Anniversary Commemoration,” the event will showcase approximately 100 works tracing four decades of the artist’s creative output.
The exhibition centers on Ah! My Goddess, alongside You’re Under Arrest, Paradise Residence, STRIKER THE SHINING STAR, and Top U GP, spanning works from Fujishima’s debut period through his latest manga. Rare handwritten manuscripts and color illustrations will be on display. Color artwork from the Sakura Wars and Tales series, Fujishima’s signature character design work, will also be featured, giving visitors a chance to appreciate both his manga career and his impact on the gaming industry within a single venue.
Exhibition hours run daily from 11:00 to 19:00, with last entry at 18:30. Admission is 1,500 yen (~$10, ~¥72), with free entry for preschool children and an admission bonus included. A signing event featuring Fujishima himself is scheduled for September 26, 2026, from 13:00 to 17:00 at the Tokyo venue only. The first 100 visitors who purchase 5,000 yen (~$34, ~¥245) or more, including the exhibition catalog, will be invited to the signing session.
Photo spots featuring popular characters will be set up at the venue, and the exhibition will offer a commemorative catalog, “88 Graph” prints, and original merchandise. During the event period, customers spending 3,000 yen (~$20, ~¥145) or more can enter a lottery once per transaction, with an extra entry for those paying with an Epos card. Prizes include a B3-size monochrome manuscript poster and postcard sets, while a social media campaign will invite four winners to the exhibition. With 40 years of beloved manga and game artwork on display, this retrospective is a must-see for longtime fans of Fujishima’s work.
