Stray Switch 2 Physical Edition Launches November 12, Pre-orders Open
Happinet has announced that Stray will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 as a package edition on November 12, 2026, under its Happinet Indie Collection label. Pre-orders opened today, August 13, at game retailers and online shops across Japan. In this adventure, players take on the role of a stray cat lost in a cyber city, solving the mysteries hidden within its streets to find a way out. The Switch 2 version delivers high-resolution visuals in both TV and handheld modes, and adds support for mouse controls using Joy-Con 2.
Physical edition buyers receive a limited bonus: the Companions’ Alphabet Card, which transcribes the game’s in-world language in alphabet notation, allowing players to enjoy deciphering it during gameplay. The jacket also comes in a reversible design featuring artwork by renowned poster artist Matt Taylor. In addition, retailer-specific purchase bonuses were confirmed, including an acrylic cat tag and a mouse pad, though quantities are limited and these extras end once stocks run out.
Stray is developed by BlueTwelve Studio, a small team based in southern France, and was described in the announcement as an original title made by a team with more cats than creators. The story follows an injured, lonely stray cat attempting to escape a forgotten city by solving ancient mysteries. The game’s setting is a meticulously detailed, decaying cyber city, where players roam neon streets and dark back alleys from a third-person perspective while chasing the truth.
The Nintendo Switch 2 package edition is priced at ¥4,400 (approximately $30, or about ¥215 in China), supports one player with no online play, and carries a CERO B rating. The game offers 16 language options, including Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Turkish, German, French (France), Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Polish, and Russian. For fans of the original feline adventure who prefer physical media, this edition with its reversible jacket and alphabet card shapes up as a tempting collector’s item.
