Prime Video October Lineup Brings The Exit 8 and Minecraft Films
Prime Video has revealed the lineup of titles arriving on its streaming service in October 2026, and video game fans have plenty to look forward to. The month is headlined by live-action adaptations of two hit games, with The Exit 8 and Minecraft: The Movie both set to stream. The slate also features the live-action SAKAMOTO DAYS, based on a popular Weekly Shonen Jump manga, alongside several anime sequels and new seasons. According to the announcement, October will bring a mix of films, dramas, and fall anime to subscribers.
The Exit 8 arrives on October 2 (Friday) as an exclusive streaming title. Directed by Genki Kawamura and starring Kazunari Ninomiya, the film adapts the hit indie game created by KOTAKE CREATE. The story follows a protagonist navigating an endlessly looping underground passage, forced into a crucial decision: turn back when spotting an anomaly, or keep going when none appears. The film aims to translate the game’s distinctive world into live-action, using tension and horror-driven staging to capture its unsettling atmosphere.
Minecraft: The Movie streams from October 1 (Thursday). Directed by Jared Hess and featuring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, it marks the first live-action adaptation of the globally popular game’s world. The plot centers on four companions who become lost in a mysterious realm built from square blocks and set out on a grand adventure to return home, using their creativity to overcome challenges. The film brings the blocky sandbox setting to the screen for the first time.
Based on Yuto Suzuki’s Weekly Shonen Jump manga, the live-action SAKAMOTO DAYS streams exclusively from October 30 (Friday). Starring Ren Meguro and directed by Yuichi Fukuda, it follows legendary hitman Sakamoto Taro, who retires and runs a shop until a massive bounty is suddenly placed on his head. Anime fans can also look forward to The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 on October 3 and Dragon Ball: Super Beerus on October 12. HBO Max also joins Prime Video subscriptions on October 1. For game fans, October looks packed, and these two live-action adaptations are certainly ones to watch.
