Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Achievements Differ on Xbox and PS5

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 delivers largely identical content on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, but completion rewards differ by platform, according to player reports. On Xbox, unlocking all 18 achievements grants access to Microsoft’s new Mythic Achievement through the shared Call of Duty app. The PS5 version includes 18 trophies—eight Gold and ten Silver—but no Platinum trophy. The discrepancy stems from how each platform categorizes the game’s achievement list within the existing Call of Duty application. Microsoft and Activision have not provided a detailed explanation for the platform-specific handling.
Microsoft’s Mythic Achievement recognizes players who unlock a game’s full original achievement set. Later DLC or update additions are generally excluded, and the system can retroactively identify previously completed qualifying games. Although Modern Warfare 4’s achievements are technically classified as add-on content for the Call of Duty HQ application, they currently satisfy the Mythic Achievement criteria. This means Xbox players who complete all 18 achievements can unlock the bonus recognition through the shared app, even though the game is not treated as a standalone achievement list.

The PS5 version mirrors the Xbox achievement count with 18 trophies, split into eight Gold and ten Silver awards. However, because the trophy list is classified as an add-on to an existing application, the PS5 release does not include a Platinum trophy. PlayStation players can still complete every listed objective, but they will not receive the conventional Platinum recognition associated with a standalone game. The platform difference does not affect the core gameplay experience, as both versions are described as essentially identical outside of these meta-rewards.

Completing the Xbox achievement set is estimated to take at least 15 hours. The main challenge is finishing the campaign on the Realism difficulty, which removes the HUD and increases combat pressure. Players must also complete several specific combat challenges and collectible tasks. While these requirements do not change the base game, they may influence which platform trophy and achievement hunters choose. For dedicated completionists, the Xbox version currently offers the more rewarding meta-goal, though the missing PS5 Platinum remains an unfortunate gap for trophy-focused players.
