Phasmophobia Hits 30 Million Sales as Crimson Eye Event Returns

British indie studio Kinetic Games has announced that Phasmophobia, its cooperative horror title, has surpassed 30 million copies sold across PC and console platforms since entering early access in 2020. Alongside the sales milestone, the studio confirmed that its annual Halloween event, Crimson Eye, is now live and will run through November 1, offering players nearly a month of blood-moon horror. The event marks the return of a yearly tradition for the cooperative ghost-hunting game.
This year’s Crimson Eye event introduces a more intense blood moon variant. During the event, blood moon weather rotates daily across designated maps, turning the moon a deep red. Ghosts move faster and attack more aggressively, while players’ sanity drains at an accelerated rate. To balance the added danger, rewards for completing investigations have been increased accordingly, creating what the studio describes as a high-risk, high-reward dynamic for participating players.

The event spans eight maps drawn from the game’s classic locations. These include Tanglewood Drive, Camp Woodwind, Grafton Farmhouse, Bleasdale Farmhouse, Edgefield Road, Nell’s Diner, and Willow Street, along with Point Hope, which is available in Standard Mode only. Players rotating through these haunted settings will face the heightened ghost aggression that defines the Crimson Eye event throughout its limited run this season.

While celebrating the sales milestone, Kinetic Games also outlined its long-term plans for the game. A full 1.0 release is scheduled for the second half of 2027, and it will bring a major rework of ghost design and gameplay. The studio said it will begin sharing early previews of development starting next year, giving players an advance look at the update’s overall direction. With sales continuing to climb years after early access began, Phasmophobia’s lengthy roadmap suggests the ghost-hunting formula still has plenty of room to evolve.
