Metro 2033 Redux PC Next-Gen Update Lands, Cracked Build Appears

4A Games released the PC next-gen update for Metro 2033 Redux on October 22, and within a day a community-made cracked build labeled as the PC version began circulating online at roughly 14,725MB. The update is positioned as a lead-in to Metro 2039, which is scheduled to launch on February 4, 2027. It is not a full remake; instead, it keeps the original experience intact while tuning the game for modern hardware. The console versions of the update are set to follow on October 29.
According to the source material, the PC build adds 4K textures, support for DLSS and FSR upscaling, and spatial audio. It also addresses a long list of community-reported problems, including crashes at high frame rates, save file anomalies, resolution restrictions, and lighting and shadow errors. The update is described as an optimization pass rather than a rebuild, meaning owners receive improved technical performance without changes to the core campaign structure players already know.

On the console side, the update is scheduled for October 29 and targets native 4K at 60 frames per second, alongside an upscaled 4K option running at 120 frames per second. The console release also adds support for the DualSense adaptive triggers and Xbox impulse triggers. The gap between the PC and console rollout is one week, with the PC version arriving first on October 22 and the console build following at the end of the month.

Metro 2033 Redux was developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver, and follows Artyom, a survivor in the Moscow metro of 2033 who ventures deeper into the tunnels to warn humanity of an impending crisis. Players should note that the game requires a Chinese language patch. Existing owners can claim the next-gen update at no cost through PC digital storefronts; the cracked build is player-made and not an official release. It is a welcome show of support for a 2010 classic ahead of Metro 2039, though the free upgrade path remains the smarter route.
