Mappy and Valkyrie’s Adventure Blankets Reveal Design and Details
The Classic Game Blanket series, which prints classic game software package designs onto blankets, is adding two new titles: Mappy and Valkyrie no Bōken (Valkyrie’s Adventure). Both are scheduled to release on September 16, 2026, as the second wave of the product line. A newly released video showcases the outer boxes and blankets for both titles, allowing viewers to inspect the printed designs and gauge the size of the merchandise. The footage confirms that the game package artwork appears on both the front and back surfaces of the outer box and the blanket alike.
The video highlights the dimensions of the products, noting that the blanket’s outer box is A4-sized while the blanket itself measures 1044mm × 700mm. The game package artwork is printed on both sides of the blanket, matching the design printed on the box. The presentation is intended to give potential buyers a clear sense of how the finished pieces look in person, from the print layout to the overall proportions of the merchandise.
Each blanket comes with an accompanying booklet, and selected pages from the second wave’s edition have been revealed. Titled “namcot title cassette collection,” the 16-page booklet features a curated selection of illustrations that appeared on Famicom cassette labels under the Namcot brand. While the first wave’s booklet introduced Namcot-brand Famicom titles, this new edition spotlights many games that have not received blanket treatments, offering a nostalgic trip for those who played the originals.
Both blankets launch on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, priced at ¥3,300 (approximately $23, around ¥165). The blanket is made of polyester microfiber and weighs 280g, while the booklet is A5-sized with 16 pages. The products are published by KADOKAWA Game Linkage and distributed by KADOKAWA. For fans of retro Namcot classics, these blankets offer a tangible piece of gaming history, and the cassette-art booklet is a particularly nice touch.
