Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back Revealed for PS5, Launching 2027
A special stage event for Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back took place during Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe, with the first two days reserved for business visitors. The event confirmed that the full sequel to the pop-and-cute zombie-hunting action series is in development and will launch for PlayStation 5 in 2027. A teaser movie produced for TGS2026 was also shown, featuring protagonist Juliette battling and kicking her way through zombies.
During a talk corner, IP producer Joe Teng, DORAGAMI GAMES representative director Kohei Sato, co-producer Hajime Tabata, and the development director took the stage to share behind-the-scenes stories. According to the panel, the project started when Joe Teng proposed a new entry following a 2022 announcement, and after roughly a year of discussions with the development team, production was approved. The development director commented that he is happy to work on a beloved title, adding that a younger team wanted to create something new and the timing was perfect.
The panel explained that Juliette has been designed to appeal not only to existing fans but also to newcomers. The series’ signature intense action will be revealed gradually ahead of launch. Regarding the game’s world, the team said it builds on the rare fusion of a horror setting with pop, cute characters, and packs in even more elements. Joe Teng highlighted the attention to small details, noting that Juliette has her nails done, and encouraged fans to look closely at such touches.
On the action itself, the development director said the team focused on making the game fun to pick up and play without overthinking, while ensuring Juliette looks appealing on screen. Footage from the game’s development was also shown during the stage. With the title now confirmed for PS5 in 2027, more details are expected to surface as the reveal campaign continues. For longtime fans of this cult classic series, the confirmation that a full sequel is genuinely in production is a welcome development — this is one to keep an eye on.
