Kafkaesque Escape Sim 警目如炬 Unveils Playable Demo Today

Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX and developer TALLBOYS surprise-revealed a playable demo for the surreal immersive simulation game 《警目如炬》 during today’s Triple-i Initiative showcase. CRITICAL REFLEX, previously known for publishing Buckshot Roulette (《恶魔轮盘》) and No, I’m Not a Human (《寻找伪人》), is backing the project, while TALLBOYS handles development. The demo contains the game’s entire first chapter, letting players experience the complete opening of this Kafkaesque escape adventure ahead of its 2027 release. The full game is planned to launch in 2027 across PC and Xbox Series X|S, and will also join Game Pass on both PC and console at release.
Players are trapped in an unfamiliar city where a giant policeman towers overhead, watching every move. He serves as the city’s keeper of order and, at the same time, the biggest obstacle standing between the player and freedom. His emotions are described as unpredictable. The city’s residents remain wary of the protagonist, though their scattered remarks may hide a route out. According to the source, survival comes first: lying, stealth, deception and theft are the tools players must rely on before any escape becomes possible in this unfamiliar place.

Much of the demo centers on the giant policeman’s shifting emotions. The source states that players can anger, flatter or deceive him, and even pursue romance with him. Every emotional fluctuation may open a window for escape. Billed as an absurd surveillance figure, he keeps the player’s actions in view and functions as both jailer and negotiating partner. That mood-driven interaction system, rather than combat, appears to be the core of the experience players will be testing in the first chapter.

The demo also emphasizes exploring the strange city’s streets and alleys while searching for a way out. Every corner may conceal a clue or a danger, and each resident reacts differently to the player’s behavior. Deciding who can be trusted and who might sell the player out is left entirely to the player’s judgment. The 2027 launch is still some distance away, but a complete first chapter is a generous slice to judge this oddity by. For fans of surreal simulations, this is one to keep an eye on.
