Cybernetic Attack Final Mission Announced, Playable at TGS 2026
Winning Entertainment Group has announced Cybernetic Attack Final Mission (Cybernetic Attack ファイナルミッション), a brand-new title based on the 1990 Family Computer side-view scrolling shooter Final Mission. The announcement came alongside the launch of an official website and a first teaser trailer. Developed by the company’s special team TENGO PROJECT, the game marks the fifth entry in its 16-bit taste remake series. The project is also confirmed to appear at Tokyo Game Show 2026, where a special playable version of the game will be offered to attendees.
The original Final Mission was released by Natsume Co. (now Winning Entertainment Group) in 1990 and earned high praise from fans for delivering two-player cooperative play in a side-view scrolling shooter, made possible by the technical capabilities of the era. The new title carries forward the appeal of the original while adding new characters and additional elements. It revives the experience with meticulously crafted 16-bit pixel art, a visual style that has earned high marks in the team’s earlier releases.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 will take place at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21, 2026, with September 17 and 18 designated as business days. At the event, attendees will be able to try a special TGS2026 version of the game at the TENGO PROJECT booth, located at position 09-C01. The first teaser trailer is currently available to view on the game’s official website for those who want a first look before the show floor opens.
Set in the year 2XXX, the story depicts an Earth reduced to scorched ruins by an alien invasion, with humanity on the brink of extinction. In desperation, survivors assemble a counterattack force known as the Cybernetic Attack Team, a varied army of beings with different forms and abilities, standing as humanity’s last hope to reclaim the planet. Platform, release date, price, and rating remain undecided, while the game supports one to two players and is planned, developed, and sold by Winning Entertainment Group.
