CLAWSTROPHOBIA Demo Lets Players Repay Debt With Crane Games
Glockblock Games, an Australia-based indie studio, has released a demo for CLAWSTROPHOBIA, a roguelite deck-building game built around crane machines, alongside a new teaser video. The full game is scheduled to launch on November 1, 2026, for PC. In the title, players are trapped inside a Japanese subway station while carrying an enormous debt, and they must win prizes using crane games to pay it back and escape the station. According to the developer, the game is a single-player experience, and it marks the studio’s debut project, drawing on its interest in Japanese culture and experiences.
The value of each prize won in the crane game goes directly toward repaying the player’s debt. However, the amount owed increases with every round, so players must earn a required sum before each repayment deadline arrives. Progress depends on limited plays and tokens, forcing careful decisions: rearrange the prize layout, purchase a drink, or gamble on another attempt. According to Glockblock Games, the key to success lies in deciding how to spend those limited plays and tokens as the situation changes from round to round.

The demo includes 40 different drinks that can be purchased from vending machines. Combining them changes scores, multipliers, and how tokens are earned, which in turn alters how players approach the crane. Some drinks raise the multiplier when a particular prize is secured, while others change their effect based on the remaining swap count or tokens. According to the developer, different combinations let players adjust their prize targets and tactics to create personal builds. The full version is planned to include more than 100 types of drinks.

The in-game crane is modeled after the three-arm type familiar from Japanese game centers. The positions of prizes and the motion of the arms are handled through physics simulation, recreating the distinctive feel of real crane games. The demo offers a standard clear along with a secret achievement. The full release is set to add meta progression, seeded runs, and unlockable skins for plushies and cranes. For fans of unconventional roguelites, this debt-repayment premise is worth keeping an eye on.
