Chiikawa x Kura Sushi Collab Kicks Off August 21 With Exclusive Merch
Kura Sushi, the Japanese conveyor belt sushi chain, has announced a limited-time collaboration with Chiikawa (ちいかわ) running from August 21 to September 30, 2026, across its nationwide locations. The campaign introduces two themed menu items, exclusive Bikkura Pon! lottery animations and prizes, and three rounds of purchase bonuses, plus special store decorations at select flagship locations. Chiikawa, created by illustrator Nagano, began as an online manga before becoming a mainstream phenomenon, with an anime airing on Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV since April 2022 and a theatrical film released on July 24, 2026. Eight volumes of the manga have been published by Kodansha.
The collaboration features two dishes inspired by the series’ story. The “Agedako! Sauce Noodle” draws from the octopus costume seen in the manga, pairing a sauce that blends spice, sharp acidity, and deep richness with octopus tempura over special yakisoba-style noodles, topped with bonito flakes, mayonnaise, and green onions, plus a cracker featuring Chiikawa artwork. The “Usagi Pancake” uses a custom wheat flour and tapioca starch blend for a chewy, mochi-like texture, made with unsalted butter and served with butter and maple syrup. Both items are available from August 21 to September 30 and are not offered for takeout; the pancake contains honey.

During the campaign, inserting five finished plates into the plate-return slot at each table triggers a collaboration version of the Bikkura Pon! lottery, featuring original animations of “Shooting Gallery,” “Sushi Party,” and “Rock Climbing” starring the Chiikawa cast. Winners receive newly designed figures of the characters transformed into sushi, including Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi wrapped in thin rolls, plus Momonga and Kurimanjuu peeking out from sushi rice topped with salmon and tuna. Can badges and glossy acrylic magnets round out the prize lineup. Three rounds of first-come purchase bonuses — every ¥3,000 (about $20) — offer mini drawstring pouches, debut tea cups, and new-design sushi plates, limited to between 800,000 and 1,000,000 recipients per round.

Three stores — the Global Flagship Harajuku, Global Flagship Namba Parks South, and Shinjuku Yasakuni-dori — will feature special in-store decorations from August 21 to September 30, turning walls into photo spots with designs of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi holding sushi. A separate receipt campaign lets customers register receipts of ¥3,000 or more for a chance to win exclusive prizes, with one entry per receipt and unlimited entries during the application window. The purchase bonuses apply to dine-in and takeout orders, though orders via delivery services are excluded, and all prizes are available while supplies last. For Chiikawa fans planning a trip to Japan this autumn, this looks like a must-visit — though limited quantities mean early visits are advisable.
