A nine-year-old boy named Mick has become the subject of intense online discussion in China after short videos and press reports touted him as a “game prodigy.” According to those reports, the child claims an IQ of 177, has written what he says are more than 10 million lines of code, and secured an internship at a major Hangzhou tech company at age nine, making him, by some accounts, the country’s youngest game developer. His self-described resume includes learning Scratch at four, Python at five, and later Lua, alongside Roblox Studio, AI local deployment, and API work. The claims quickly drew scrutiny from netizens, who began digging into the details.
Netizens were quick to test the credibility of the 10-million-line figure. For context, the report notes that beginner-level games like Tetris and Snake require only a few hundred to roughly 1,500 lines of code, while a mid-size commercial title such as Stardew Valley runs into the hundreds of thousands. Even major AAA productions like The Witcher 3 sit at roughly 2-4 million lines, and Genshin Impact totals about 3.8 million. Assuming a pace of 500 lines per day with no days off, writing 10 million lines would take roughly 54 years, a timeline that made the claim difficult for many observers to accept.

Following a trail that included chat records referencing “Roblox Lua script extraction,” netizens located what they believe to be the boy’s account on Roblox, a user-generated game creation and social platform where most titles are built by ordinary players. The account lists games across parkour, shooting, and simulation genres, but the scenes, props, and character assets appear largely drawn from Roblox’s public asset library, with very low overall completion. Observers noted a sharp gap between the heavily promoted “genius developer” image and the actual state of the uploaded projects, which the report describes as far from finished.

Further digging revealed that Mick previously appeared in commercial work, including children’s clothing photo shoots and kids’ fashion shows. The report frames this as part of a recurring “manufactured prodigy” pattern in Chinese internet culture, in which parents and media repackage ordinary childhood interests into extraordinary success stories, fueled by education anxiety and curiosity about child geniuses.
