Notable creations included a recreation of the cave from the animated series “熊出没” (Boonie Bears), a Western fantasy-style open building with two dragons, and a detailed replica of the Forbidden City’s Nine Dragon Wall and main halls. Other highlights featured a Gothic-style castle, Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series, and a floating island inspired by AI suggestions. Each creator not only built their own structure but also improved the shared world’s infrastructure with automated farms and resource systems.
The relay evolved to include deeply cultural and historical references as creators pushed the project’s artistic boundaries. One participant reconstructed part of the Old Summer Palace’s Western-style buildings from the Yuanmingyuan, reuniting the twelve bronze animal heads in the process. Another built modern Chinese naval vessels including the Dingyuan and Fujian ships alongside highly detailed fighter jets. Subsequent builds included a “ladder through time” depicting 5,000 years of Chinese history and a space city in The End dimension featuring Chinese-style spacecraft as a tribute to human space exploration.
The concluding builds included a snowy castle town created by a Southern creator who rarely sees snow, a scene combining Xu Beihong’s “Eight Horses” painting with Chinese dragons for the Year of the Horse, and finally a recreation of the Tongfu Inn from the classic Chinese TV series “武林外传” (My Own Swordsman) for its 20th anniversary. The relay concluded with a celebratory video featuring all participants. While this specific survival mode relay has ended, new building collaborations in creative mode are already beginning, promising continued community-driven creativity in the Minecraft universe.
