The popular rogue-lite shooter Brotato has received a major content update titled “Baring Fangs and Brandishing Claws,” introducing a pet-centric combat system to the game. This substantial free update brings nine new pets, a dedicated new character called the Beast Tamer, and various system improvements including an enhanced encyclopedia interface and quality-of-life features. The update also adds new achievements and point items, expanding the game’s strategic depth. The update’s core innovation revolves around pet cooperative combat, with nine distinct pets covering offensive, supportive, and resource-gathering roles. Melee-focused pets like the Impact Hound charge into enemies for high damage, while the Cat Machine Gun continuously fires bullets with increased rate-of-fire when players approach. Utility pets include the Loot Worm that automatically collects resources and destroys trees, and the Scapegoat that draws enemy fire to create openings for players.
