Apex Legends Gundam Collaboration Gunpla Models Now Available
Apex Legends has launched a collaboration event with the Gundam series, featuring in-game content and physical model kits. The collaboration includes skins for eight different Legends characters, along with weapons like the Buster Rifle and Beam Saber that offer unique visual effects. Following the in-game event, official stores and Premium Bandai began accepting pre-orders for Gundam plastic model kits based on the collaboration starting March 19, 2026. The collaboration brings together the battle royale shooter with one of Japan’s most iconic mecha franchises, creating crossover content for both gaming and modeling enthusiasts.
The review focuses on two specific models from the RG (Real Grade) 1/144 series: the Freedom Gundam – Apex Legends Crypto Version and the Wing Gundam Zero EW – Apex Legends Valkyrie Version. The building process begins with carefully cutting out numerous small parts from the plastic runners. Following the instruction manual step by step, the head, torso, arms, and other components gradually take shape as three-dimensional forms. The assembly process itself proves enjoyable to watch as flat parts transform into recognizable mobile suit silhouettes. Parts fit together easily and lock securely, making the building flow manageable even for beginners, though careful handling of delicate components remains essential.
The completed Freedom Gundam – Crypto Version features a white base with green accents, creating high visibility and a distinct atmosphere compared to the standard Freedom Gundam. It presents a clean, lightweight impression with sharp overall forms. The back wings serve as a major visual element, with their opening angle and position significantly affecting the model’s appearance and expanding posing possibilities. The kit includes a Beam Saber, Beam Rifle, and large shield, allowing for varied equipment combinations. Articulation in the arms and legs provides high posing freedom, and interchangeable wrist parts enable different weapon grips. A 1/144 scale Kira Yamato figure is also included to enhance display options.
The Wing Gundam Zero – Valkyrie Version uses a black base with orange accents, creating a tightened, powerful appearance with substantial presence. The characteristic wings have significant volume and impressive presence when deployed, with the silhouette from behind being particularly striking for display purposes. The kit includes a Twin Buster Rifle that creates noticeable volume when held with both hands, complementing the model’s heavy design for naturally imposing poses. Wide articulation allows for dynamic posing, and interchangeable wrist parts enable varied weapon handling. A 1/144 scale Heero Yuy figure accompanies the model for display alongside the mobile suit. The collaboration kits retail for 4400 yen (~$30/~¥210) each, with the Gundam Epyon – Alter Version priced at 5500 yen (~$37/~¥260). These crossover models successfully blend Apex Legends’ aesthetic with Gunpla’s quality, offering both building enjoyment and display versatility for fans of both franchises.
