Yomi no Tsugai Anime Adaptation Reveals Visuals and April 4 Premiere
The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa’s supernatural fantasy manga “Yomi no Tsugai” (黄泉のツガイ) has revealed its first episode preview cuts and character visuals ahead of its April 4, 2026 premiere. The series will run for two consecutive cours, marking the latest collaboration between Square Enix, Aniplex, and Bones – the same production team behind the acclaimed “Fullmetal Alchemist” anime adaptations. Creator Hiromu Arakawa, best known for “Fullmetal Alchemist,” has seen her latest work surpass 6 million copies in circulation through its serialization in Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine.
The anime brings together an impressive creative team led by director Masahiro Ando (Sword of the Stranger, Blast of Tempest). Character design and chief animation director is Nobuhiro Arai (Bungo Stray Dogs), with series composition by Noboru Takagi (Durarara!!, Golden Kamuy). Music is composed by Kenichiro Suehiro (Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World, Golden Kamuy). The production supervision is handled by Bones, with animation production by Bones Film, continuing the successful partnership that previously brought Arakawa’s “Fullmetal Alchemist” to animated life.
The newly released visuals showcase the main characters including protagonist Yuru, his sharp-eyed twin sister Asa, the calm merchant Dera, and the innocent Gabu-chan. The voice cast features Kengo Kawanishi as Yuru, Yume Miyamoto as Asa, Yuichi Nakamura as Dera, and Misaki Kuno as Gabu-chan. Additional cast includes Rikiya Koyama as Right, Takako Honda as Left, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Hana, and Junichi Suwabe as Jin. The visuals also reveal the unique “tsugai” (paired) relationships central to the story’s supernatural battle system.
The anime premieres April 4, 2026 at 23:30 on TOKYO MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV, with subsequent broadcasts on multiple regional stations throughout Japan. Streaming will begin after the terrestrial broadcast on various platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and other major streaming services. Opening theme “Tobu Toki” will be performed by Vaundy, while ending theme “Tobou yo” comes from yama. With its intriguing supernatural premise and the pedigree of its creator and production team, Yomi no Tsugai appears poised to become a significant addition to the fantasy anime landscape this season.
