Binary Haze Interactive has released Update Ver1.0.1 for TOKYO SCRAMBLE, the survival puzzle action game exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The update, which became available on April 1, 2026, introduces significant quality-of-life improvements including episode-by-episode difficulty adjustment across 17 episodes. This allows players to customize the challenge level for each individual story segment. Additional enhancements include improved announcements, chat thread visibility during stages, and various gameplay refinements. The update represents ongoing support for the game which originally launched on February 12, 2026.
TOKYO SCRAMBLE is a survival puzzle action title where players control Ann, a girl who becomes trapped in an underground world called Zipang after a massive collapse in the Tokyo metropolitan area. This hidden realm is inhabited by Zino, creatures that have undergone unique evolution from dinosaurs. The gameplay blends stealth, strategy, and action elements as players must evade these creatures while solving environmental puzzles to escape. Players must manage Ann’s heart rate, use tools like flash grenades and alarms strategically, and make split-second decisions to survive encounters with various Zino types.
The game features local cooperative play where up to four players can share control of Ann’s actions, dividing camera movement, navigation, and interactions among the group. This cooperative mode encourages teamwork and communication, with players able to pass control to more experienced teammates when stuck. The development team includes notable industry veterans: director and producer Masaru Yamamoto (known for the Sengoku BASARA series), character designer Makoto Tsuchibayashi (Sengoku BASARA, Devil May Cry), and composer Rei Kondoh (Okami, Bayonetta series, Fire Emblem: Three Houses).
Update Ver1.0.1 specifically adds difficulty adjustment options for each episode, allowing players to modify Zino patrol routes, remove certain enemies, or add recharge spots. The update also enhances various in-game announcements and improves tutorial clarity. Binary Haze Interactive has stated they plan to continue adjusting game balance and refining the user interface in future updates. The game is available as a digital download for 3,278 yen (~$22) and supports 11 languages including Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean.
