No Rest for the Wicked Multiplayer Patch Launches March 19 with Co-op Focus

Moon Studios has announced that the first multiplayer patch for their hardcore ARPG 《恶意不息》(No Rest for the Wicked) will officially launch on March 19, Beijing time, accompanied by an official gameplay demonstration. The update centers on cooperative gameplay, aiming to redefine the multiplayer experience for Souls-like and Diablo-style games through a free shared realm system, deep performance optimizations, and innovative gameplay mechanics. This significant patch represents a major expansion to the game’s social features, moving beyond traditional temporary co-op sessions to create persistent shared worlds where players can build lasting partnerships.
This update introduces a free exclusive realm system similar to Minecraft Realms, supporting up to four players teaming up to explore the Sacred Island. Unlike traditional multiplayer systems, this realm allows players to log in at any time without requiring the host to be online. Players can independently or collaboratively build bases and challenge dungeons, achieving true seamless cooperation. The system enables persistent shared worlds where progress and constructions remain available to all group members regardless of individual play schedules.

Producer Thomas Mahler directly stated: “We reject ‘stupid’ Souls-like multiplayer—that temporary team-up to fight bosses mechanism can never cultivate partnership camaraderie.” He emphasized that the new mode aims to recreate the pure cooperative feeling of Secret of Mana, allowing players to grow together in a shared world. This philosophical approach represents a deliberate departure from the drop-in/drop-out co-op systems common in many action RPGs, focusing instead on sustained collaborative experiences.

The patch also optimizes CPU and GPU performance while supporting multiple key bindings for the same button. It expands the storyline to the Karen City liberation battle and introduces a duel mode alongside realm logs. The update supports text chat and quick call features, providing comprehensive communication tools for coordinated play. These technical improvements complement the social features, ensuring smoother gameplay alongside the enhanced cooperative experience. This substantial update demonstrates Moon Studios’ commitment to evolving the game’s multiplayer ecosystem beyond conventional expectations.
