Monster Hunter: Traveler Mobile Game Announces April 2026 Test

Capcom-licensed mobile game Monster Hunter: Traveler (怪物猎人:旅人) has officially announced its “Journey Test” for April 2026, revealing a new promotional trailer on April 2nd, 2026. Developed by Tencent’s Timi Studio Group, the game represents the Monster Hunter series’ first open-world mobile hunting experience. Player recruitment for the test is now open through official channels, marking a significant step toward the game’s anticipated 2026 launch. The announcement follows the earlier “Heart Transmission Test” which covered iOS 17 and above, iPhone 12 and newer models, and Android devices with Snapdragon 888 or better processors.
The game features the open-world “Esuo Island” with diverse ecosystems including volcanoes, forests, coral reefs, and deserts seamlessly connected. Players can explore using gliders and self-built zip lines, with sessions designed for 15-25 minutes to accommodate mobile gaming habits. Classic weapons like Great Sword, Long Sword, Bow, Dual Blades, and Heavy Bowgun return, with the Great Sword retaining its charge system while adding a new “perfect dodge maintains charge level” mechanic. The Long Sword’s action modules closely replicate the feel of console versions for authentic combat experience.

A new “Hunting Partner” system introduces companions like Felynes, Lutak, and Medori who assist in combat with combo skill linkages. The game preserves core Monster Hunter mechanics like part breaking and combo derivation while optimizing for mobile with intelligent touch feedback for one-touch combos and attack warning prompts for precision. A “Co-op Skill” mechanic allows four-player teams focusing attacks on the same body part to trigger high damage and extended stun periods, with dynamic health adjustments for two-player co-op enhancing collaborative gameplay.

Four adventurer characters have been revealed: Rui’er, Madeline, Midolv, and Pepe, each with distinct combat styles and skill trees. New “Luminous Species” monsters like the Luminous Species Rathalos feature enhanced breath attacks and ground combat modes, with their rage skills and exclusive materials driving equipment evolution. Performance optimizations include upgraded character lighting systems, improved audio and camera performance, cloud storage for seamless device switching, and broader device compatibility. With its classic IP foundation and mobile-adapted open-world design, Monster Hunter: Traveler appears positioned to deliver an authentic hunting experience optimized for on-the-go gameplay.
