Million Live! Theater Days: Matsuri Voice Actress on 9th Anniversary
The Idolmaster Million Live! Theater Days (アイドルマスター ミリオンライブ！ シアターデイズ) celebrated its ninth anniversary on June 29, 2026, and to mark the occasion, Famitsu spoke with Ayaka Suwa, the voice of Matsuri Tokugawa — the idol chosen as the center of the 9th anniversary key visual. Suwa, who has voiced Matsuri for 13 years, said each anniversary reminds her how much the game’s producers support the franchise, and that reaching the milestone hand-in-hand with fans is genuinely moving. She also expressed excitement for the game’s upcoming 10th anniversary next year, promising to give her all to live stages and anniversary events.
Suwa admitted that when she first began voicing Matsuri — a character who proudly declares herself a princess — she wondered who exactly she was playing. Through stories and songs, she came to understand Matsuri as a girl with strong convictions who walks her own path. The voice actress highlighted a story featuring Matsuri’s younger sister, which revealed the 19-year-old’s more ordinary side and tied into why she aspired to become an idol. Playing the contrast between the self-assured stage princess and the gentle, attentive big sister off stage remains a joy, Suwa said.
Suwa spoke fondly of the My Pace Unit, which she shares with Miyabi Miya (voiced by Chocho Kirigaya) and Tomoka Tenkubashi (voiced by Kotori Koiwai). The unit received an OVA where the trio helps high school student Hana, a devoted Miyabi fan, liven up a school festival — animated by Shirogumi. The unit also covered THE BLUE HEARTS’ classic “Linda Linda” and “Tobenai Boku wa Oyoida.” Outside her princess roles, Suwa voiced a mechanical queen in the Machine City gacha event and a psycho villain in “Secret Jewel ~Miwaku no Kongouseki~,” both of which she found highly enjoyable.
Suwa said she only learned Matsuri was the center of the 9th anniversary song “Dress Code: Saijoukyuu” after recording it, praising its Cinderella-like lyrics as a perfect fit. Memorable live moments include singing “Eternal Harmony” with all original members at the Tokyo Dome Bandai Namco Entertainment Festival and the franchise’s first outdoor 7th live, which featured fireworks and a campfire. She also admitted to crying during “Flyers!!!” at her first show back before producers. Suwa hopes to perform at venues like amusement parks and parks, and her anniversary wish is to keep bringing fans the sparkly, fluffy Matsuri-hime they love. It is hard not to share her excitement for year ten.
