Lies of P 2 Officially in Full Production, Neowiz Financial Report Confirms

Neowiz has officially confirmed that Lies of P 2 has moved into full-scale production following the approval of its prototype, according to the company’s first-quarter financial report. The original Lies of P, a soulslike RPG based on the classic Pinocchio tale, has been one of the most successful titles in the sub-genre in recent years. It attracted over 7 million players within six months of launch and sold more than 4 million copies globally, helping the studio achieve record revenue. The sequel’s development has been accelerated by the strong financial performance of the first game and its recently released downloadable content.
Neowiz has confirmed that Lies of P 2 will be developed using Unreal Engine 5, a notable upgrade from the original game’s engine. Additionally, reports indicate that the sequel may adopt a more open-world design philosophy compared to the more linear structure of its predecessor. While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, these technical and design changes suggest that the studio is aiming for a significantly expanded scope. The move to Unreal Engine 5 could also bring improved lighting, environmental detail, and visual fidelity to the dark fantasy world.

The financial report noted that downloadable content for the original Lies of P helped stabilize the studio’s revenue during the first quarter, which in turn allowed the company to accelerate work on the sequel. Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest that a port of the original Lies of the P may be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. If true, this would allow new players to experience the first game while waiting for the sequel. Neither announcement has been officially confirmed by Neowiz at this time.

According to the financial report, Neowiz has plans to build long-term franchise IP around its game portfolio, and Lies of P appears poised to become one of the company’s flagship brands. No release window or platform details for Lies of P 2 have been announced yet beyond its Unreal Engine 5 development. Given the commercial and critical success of the original, the sequel is shaping up to be a major priority for the Korean studio. The confirmation of full production is certainly encouraging news for fans of the first game.
