Geppy-X Remaster Reveals Store Bonuses with Original Staff Art
Bliss Brain has announced the store-exclusive bonuses for the upcoming remastered version of 70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X, scheduled for release on July 16, 2026. The physical package editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch will feature various retailer-specific bonuses, with three types including brand-new illustrations created by the original development team. The original creators have reunited after more than 25 years to produce these special artworks, bringing together the talents that defined the game’s visual identity back in 1999. This remaster aims to revive the legendary shooting game known for its massive hand-drawn animation and passionate homage to classic robot anime.
Three of the store bonuses feature completely new illustrations created by the original development team members who worked on the 1999 PlayStation version. Mechanical designer Ryuya Suzuki handled the original artwork, character designer Yoshihisa Uchida supervised the character portions, and mechanical concept creator Akira Yatsumoto handled composition and finishing. These creators, who shaped Geppy-X’s visual identity, have reunited after over a quarter century to produce fresh artwork specifically for this remastered release. Their collaboration represents a significant moment for both longtime fans and new players discovering the game for the first time.
The store bonuses vary by retailer and include numerous collectible items. Among the offerings are writing boards and T-shirts featuring the new illustrations, acrylic dioramas, B2 tapestries, badge sets, B4-sized poster POP sets, original stickers, postcards, A4 clear files, acrylic keychains, die-cut stickers, and holographic die-cut seal sets. Some retailers offer combination sets including multiple B2 tapestries, acrylic stands, pilot badges, and pilot bromides. The limited edition includes two special items: a drama CD featuring restored audio from the original PlayStation release and an art book containing production materials, all packaged in a special collector’s box.
Geppy-X remastered launches on July 16, 2026, for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. The physical package versions for PS5 and Switch will have a standard edition priced at 4,400 yen (~$30) and a limited edition at 8,580 yen (~$58). The game supports multiple languages including Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese for UI and subtitles. Originally released in 1999 with approximately 8,000 hand-drawn frames across four CD-ROMs, the game was considered a legendary oddity for its unprecedented animation scale and passionate robot anime parody. The return of the original creative team for new artwork adds significant collector value to this revival of a cult classic.
