Dragon Quest X Online Version 8 Reveals New Class, Story, and June Release
Square Enix has unveiled comprehensive details for Dragon Quest X Online Version 8 during the ‘Dragon Quest X Spring Festival 2026’ fan event. The major expansion, officially titled ‘Dragon Quest X: Children of Time and Space Online,’ is scheduled for release on June 25, 2026. The presentation included a preliminary version of the opening movie, showcasing returning characters and new threats. All shown content remains under development and subject to change before the final release.
The expansion introduces a new world called Yumagram, which has been completely dominated by the ‘Demon Emperor’ and his Yumagia Demon Imperial Army after a devastating war. Story screenshots reveal the protagonist attending a celebration in Granzedora when mysterious tremors occur, leading to an investigation with the revived fairy Kururu. Players will encounter new characters Romanus and Anneliese, who bear resemblance to familiar faces from previous adventures. The narrative promises to explore time corridors and dimensional anomalies as the main story reaches its conclusion with this version.
Version 8 introduces the fourth master class, Storm Kaiser, accessible to players with experience in Thief and Battle Master classes. This dual-wielding physical attacker can equip one-handed swords, daggers, spears, and fans, primarily using Battle Master armor. The class features a unique mechanic where damage from special skills increases with consecutive hits. Two exclusive skills were revealed: ‘Swift Wind Dance’ delivers multi-hit damage to single targets, while ‘Favorable Wind Dance’ provides self-buffs including increased critical rate and evasion.
New content includes ‘Monster Doctor’s Adventurous Experiment,’ though details remain scarce, and a new equipment slot called ‘Companion Monster Hearts’ for additional customization. The update also confirms development of an interactive AI buddy called ‘Chatty Slime’ and a free update for the Nintendo Switch 2 version. With the main story concluding and substantial new gameplay elements, Version 8 represents a significant milestone for the long-running MMORPG that should give veteran players plenty to explore this summer.
