Capcom Achieves Record Profits for 13th Straight Year in FY2026

Capcom has released its financial results for fiscal year 2026, reporting record-breaking figures across all key metrics. The Japanese publisher achieved net sales of ¥195.3 billion (~$1.3 billion) and operating profit of ¥75.2 billion (~$501 million), marking the 13th consecutive year of operating profit growth. The company’s long-term strategy continues to deliver strong results, driven primarily by its four flagship franchises: Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, and Devil May Cry. Digital content remained the largest revenue contributor, generating ¥144.2 billion in sales for the segment.
The Resident Evil franchise proved to be the strongest growth driver this fiscal year. The latest mainline entry, Resident Evil: Requiem, launched in February 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, has already sold 6.91 million units. Classic titles also continued to perform exceptionally well, with Resident Evil 4 selling 3.69 million units, Resident Evil Village at 3.62 million, Resident Evil 3 at 3.46 million, Resident Evil 2 at 2.91 million, and Resident Evil 7 at 2.61 million during the fiscal year. These numbers highlight the enduring global appeal of the survival horror franchise.

Monster Hunter: Wilds has surpassed 11 million units in lifetime sales, while Monster Hunter Rise and its Sunbreak expansion continued generating meaningful revenue. Capcom noted that catalog titles reached a record 49.46 million units sold this fiscal year, showcasing impressive long-tail performance. Street Fighter 6 sold 2.04 million units, bringing its lifetime total past 6 million units, with Capcom attributing this to esports operations and multiplatform distribution. Devil May Cry 5 also experienced a notable sales resurgence at 2.71 million units, driven by the Netflix animated adaptation.

Looking ahead, Capcom confirmed Pragmata and Onimusha: Way of the Sword as current priority projects. Pragmata, a new sci-fi IP, launched this April, while Onimusha: Way of the Sword remains on track for a 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 is emerging as a key strategic platform, with Resident Evil: Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3 confirmed for the system. Digital sales grew 21% year-over-year, now representing 93% of total sales, with PC accounting for over half of digital revenue. Capcom reiterated its long-term goal of reaching 100 million annual global unit sales. Thirteen consecutive years of profit growth is a rare achievement in this industry, and Capcom shows no signs of slowing down.
