August 2026 PC Games: Steins;Gate Re:Boot, Star Wars, More
Famitsu has spotlighted a packed lineup of recommended PC games releasing in August 2026, covering everything from remakes and new IP to retro revivals and strategy titles. The month’s headliners include STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, a full remake of the acclaimed science-adventure classic; Beast of Reincarnation, a brand-new action RPG from Game Freak; and Star Wars Zero Company, a turn-based strategy game set in the Clone Wars era. With titles arriving every week, the roundup offers a useful roadmap for PC players ahead of a busy month.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT launches August 20 across Switch 2, Switch, PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S and PC, priced at ¥7,480 (~$50 / ~¥360) physically and ¥6,380 (~$43 / ~¥310) digitally. The remake rebuilds the 2009 original, a series with over 4 million copies sold, with newly recorded voices, a remade score by composer Takeshi Abo, event stills roughly double the Xbox 360 version’s, and E-mote character animation. Game Freak’s Beast of Reincarnation arrives earlier, on August 4, at ¥8,980 (~$60 / ~¥435) for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Set in a collapsed 4026 Japan, it pairs protagonist Emma’s real-time sword combat with command-based RPG moves from her hound partner Kuu.

August 6 brings three titles from Japanese publishers. Cotton Rock With You (¥6,380 / ~$43), the 35th-anniversary shoot ’em up sequel, offers 10 playable characters and 16 stages with route selection. ROUTE16R (¥3,300 / ~$22) modernizes the 1980s car chase series with robot transformations and its first local multiplayer, while ROUTE16TURBO (¥1,540 / ~$10) revives the 1985 original with stages unreachable in the classic version. Then on August 7, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls (¥7,980 / ~$53) arrives from PlayStation Studios and Arc System Works, a 4v4 tag fighter with simple input options and a 64-player open lobby.

The latter half of August is equally dense. Captain Tsubasa 2 WORLD FIGHTERS hits August 27 (¥8,470 / ~$56) with 22 national teams and over 110 playable characters, alongside METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2 (¥6,600 / ~$44), bundling MGS4, Peace Walker HD and Ghost Babel, and Brigandine Abyss (¥9,020 / ~$60), a hex-based war simulation. Star Wars Zero Company follows August 28 (¥8,400 / ~$56), a single-player turn-based strategy title co-developed by Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, with Patlabor the Case Files closing the month on August 31 (¥6,380 / ~$43). It is an unusually strong month for PC players, and Steins;Gate Re:Boot stands out as the one to watch.
