Assassin’s Creed Invictus Leak Reveals Turn-Based PvP and Troubled Test

New details have emerged regarding Ubisoft’s controversial PvP multiplayer project Assassin’s Creed Invictus, with prominent leaker Tom Henderson revealing that the game features turn-based gameplay. Developed by the veteran team behind For Honor, this experimental title requires players to build up their character’s skills during matches, offering a degree of tactical depth. However, the atmosphere surrounding the project has become increasingly tense as troubling internal test results have surfaced, casting doubt on the game’s future.
According to Henderson, Assassin’s Creed Invictus is a turn-based game where players develop their characters through skill progression during each match. The project is being built by the core team behind For Honor, signaling a significant departure from the series’ traditional action-stealth formula. Ubisoft had previously described the project as “not exactly what the rumors suggest” and had been pursuing a “test-and-learn” development approach. Despite these cautious descriptions, the game represents one of the most experimental directions the franchise has ever taken.

Insider Gaming reports that a small-scale internal test conducted on April 30 can now be independently confirmed, and some of the feedback has been extremely negative. The reports are so concerning that there are rumors the project could face delays, or in the worst-case scenario, outright cancellation. Compounding these issues, the test’s extremely limited scope means Ubisoft should have been able to easily trace the source of the leak. Henderson confirmed that previous leaks did indeed originate from this real test, putting the development team in a difficult position.

Despite the negative reports, the same sources indicate that Invictus is not without potential. The game is described as far from a Fall Guys clone, with a visual style much closer to classic Assassin’s Creed rather than a full-on party game. In other words, the title has merit, but its current state remains highly unstable and far from reassuring for fans. Assassin’s Creed Invictus has been one of the boldest and riskiest experiments in the series’ history from the start. Ubisoft has yet to make an official response, and the project’s ultimate fate remains to be seen. For fans of the franchise, this is certainly a situation worth monitoring closely.
