Yog-Sothoth’s Garden Switch Edition Launches July 23 with Japanese Update
Shochiku has announced that the Nintendo Switch version of Yog-Sothoth’s Garden, a Cthulhu mythos-inspired hotel management simulation and romance adventure game, will launch on July 23, 2026. The game, developed by indie studio Bone Nail, originally released in Chinese and English in October 2023 and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews with over 10,000 user ratings and a 90%+ approval rate. On the same day as the Switch release, the existing version will receive a Japanese language update, making the game fully accessible to Japanese-speaking players for the first time.
Yog-Sothoth’s Garden combines hotel management simulation with romantic adventure elements in a dark fantasy setting inspired by Lovecraftian horror. Players inherit a dilapidated mansion from their adoptive father and must manage a hotel staffed by non-human female characters while deepening bonds with them. The staff includes an artificial maid, a death god apprentice, a dragon girl, and a spirit slayer, each with their own focused storylines. The game features over 20 different endings, with players’ management decisions and relationships with heroines determining the outcome.
Beyond standard hotel operations like restaurant management and room remodeling, the game incorporates exploration, alchemy, and a unique SAN (sanity) system. Players can use the Oracle system, which consumes SAN points to gain powerful effects, forcing them to make dark decisions fitting the Cthulhu mythos theme. The game positions itself as a chaotic hotel management simulation where players’ business judgments and bonds with heroines change fate in a world where madness creeps ever closer.
The Switch version will be available in both digital and physical formats, with pre-orders for physical editions beginning on March 26, 2026. The limited edition physical version is priced at 4,400 yen (~$31) and includes a special box, retro room keychain, character frame cards, and a reversible jacket featuring new artwork of the main characters gathered together. The standard physical edition costs 2,970 yen (~$21) and also includes the reversible jacket. Developer Bone Nail has previously released well-received simulation and RPG titles, establishing their reputation in the genre. With its successful track record and the Switch release bringing Japanese localization, Yog-Sothoth’s Garden offers an intriguing blend of management simulation and dark romance for fans of both genres.
