Rhapsody in Scarlet Reveals Voice Cast, New Konami Action Game
During KONAMI’s official KONAMI PRESS START broadcast that aired on September 4, 2026, the publisher revealed the voice cast for Rhapsody in Scarlet (ラプソディ・イン・スカーレット), a completely new action game set in the jazz-filled streets of 1920s New York. Akari Kito voices protagonist Ellie Myers, while Saori Onishi plays Ilya Jones. Players wield magic and beasts to chain satisfying combos in battle. Two trailers premiered alongside the broadcast: an announcement trailer showing combo-driven action, and a story trailer depicting Ellie, a jazz singer arriving in the city of her dreams, being drawn into a hidden war among magic users. The production team also presented a video introducing the game’s world and appeal.
Combat in Rhapsody in Scarlet revolves around combining magic and beast techniques. In addition to close-range attacks, players can also unleash long-range strikes and wide-area attacks that sweep in surrounding enemies, opening up varied tactical options. Beasts can be switched according to the situation, letting players change strategy to overwhelm foes. The setting is equally detailed: according to KONAMI, buildings, automobiles, clothing and even hidden speakeasies from the Prohibition era have been recreated as faithfully as possible, capturing the vibrant energy of Jazz Age New York.
The protagonist Ellie Myers is a young magic user who comes to New York dreaming of success as a jazz singer, fighting in sync with her partner beast, Skoll. Ilya Jones leads the elite magic organization called the Seeker. Raised under her father Harold, the head of the Magic Quarter, she is a highly capable mage who values order and responsibility. Free-spirited Ellie and strait-laced Ilya clash repeatedly, but as they fight side by side they gradually come to understand each other, all while pursuing the conspiracy of a mysterious mafia group — a battle of destiny that could shake the world’s balance.
Jazz is central to expressing the game’s world, and the soundtrack features contributions from jazz band SOIL&”PIMP”SESSIONS and singer-songwriter Emi Meyer. A special video blending a live performance of the theme song “Cool/Hot” with in-game footage was also unveiled during the broadcast. To celebrate the game’s announcement, KONAMI is running a five-day giveaway campaign on the title’s official social media channels, offering daily prizes of up to 10,000 yen. Release details have not been announced yet, but with its stylish Prohibition-era setting, magical beast combat and newly revealed cast, Rhapsody in Scarlet is shaping up to be one to watch.
