Resident Evil Requiem Dominates US Charts with 60% Sales Jump Over Village

Capcom’s latest survival horror title, Resident Evil Requiem, has achieved remarkable commercial success in the United States market during February 2026. According to data from Circana, the ninth mainline entry in the long-running series not only topped the monthly game sales charts but also debuted as the year’s best-selling game so far. The game’s performance across all major platforms demonstrates the continued strength of the Resident Evil franchise, which remains one of the industry’s most popular intellectual properties. This strong showing follows the successful launch of Resident Evil Village and continues Capcom’s recent trend of critically and commercially successful releases in the series.
Resident Evil Requiem’s launch sales were an impressive 60% higher than those of its predecessor, Resident Evil Village. Even when excluding bundled and special edition sales, the game still achieved over 40% growth compared to the previous title. The game secured the top position across all major gaming platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, solidifying its status as the month’s most popular release. This performance establishes a new benchmark for future entries in the series and reinforces Capcom’s strong position in the American gaming market.

The broader US gaming market also showed strength in February 2026, with total sales reaching $4.6 billion and content spending accounting for $4 billion of that total, remaining consistent with the previous year. Hardware sales experienced significant growth, increasing by 22% to reach $326 million. In the console market, PlayStation 5 led both in units sold and revenue, while the Nintendo Switch 2 maintained a solid second place position. The Switch 2 has achieved notable market penetration, with its nine-month cumulative install base already exceeding 45% of the original Switch’s performance during the same period.

Beyond Resident Evil Requiem’s dominant performance, several other new releases made their mark on the sales charts. Notable entries included Mario Tennis Fever, God of War: Sons of Sparta, and Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, with the latter jumping directly to the 14th position on the year’s best-sellers list. For bundle enthusiasts, the Resident Evil Generations Bundle for Nintendo Switch 2, which includes Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem, debuted at number 20 on the monthly chart. This diverse range of successful titles across different genres and platforms indicates a healthy and varied gaming market. The continued success of the Resident Evil franchise demonstrates that well-established horror series can still achieve significant commercial breakthroughs with each new installment.
