Resident Evil 2, 3, 4 Remakes Confirmed for Switch 2 This October
Capcom has confirmed that the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 are coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made during last night’s Nintendo Direct, alongside new trailers for all three titles. The trio will arrive as digital releases on October 16, 2026, with physical versions scheduled for a later date. The news marks the first time this particular run of Resident Evil remakes has been lined up for Nintendo’s new hardware.
According to Capcom, the Switch 2 versions are not the base releases. Resident Evil 2 Remake arrives as a Deluxe Edition, which includes additional costumes, the Samurai Edge weapon, and an original soundtrack swap option. Resident Evil 4 Remake comes as the Gold Edition, bundling the Ada Wong chapter “Separate Ways,” The Mercenaries mode, and extra costumes and items. Resident Evil 3 Remake is the standard edition but ships with bonus content such as classic costumes. All three include their respective DLC and additional content, and can be played in handheld, tabletop, and TV modes.
All three digital versions launch simultaneously on October 16, 2026, while the physical editions are set for January 29, 2027. Capcom noted that these ports are based on the existing RE Engine remakes rather than being newly developed remasters built specifically for the new console. That clarification suggests players can expect the same content and structure as the versions already available elsewhere.
For players who have held off on the remakes or want them on a portable system, this collection represents a convenient way to pick up the trilogy with most of the extras already included. Bundling the Deluxe and Gold content rather than selling bare versions is a sensible choice on Capcom’s part, and the staggered digital and physical release gives buyers a clear timeline to plan around.
