Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L: Post-Apocalyptic 2D Extraction Shooter Revealed
Ice Quake Studios has announced Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L, a new PC title that the studio is both developing and publishing. A debut trailer accompanied the reveal, though no release date has been confirmed at the time of writing. The game is described as a 2D top-down PvPvE extraction shooter, and it will support both single-player and online play. According to the announcement, the project draws inspiration from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Escape from Tarkov, placing players inside a post-apocalyptic, collapsed Europe where survival depends on gathering loot and making it out alive.
Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L sends players into a dangerous zone where they must collect valuable spoils while trying to survive. Along the way they will battle other players, hostile NPCs, and dangerous monsters. A detailed damage system reflects injuries to individual body parts, so a shot to the leg reduces movement speed, while untreated bleeding can lead to death from blood loss. Survival also hinges on managing several statuses, including radiation exposure, toxins, hunger, thirst, and body temperature, keeping every encounter tense.

The exploration environments are said to be varied, spanning ruined cities, toxic wastelands, deep forests, underground bunkers, and hidden caves. Players will occasionally encounter dangerous abnormal phenomena known as anomalies. These locations harbor powerful items and rare resources, but they also conceal traps that threaten the player’s life. The mix of reward and risk appears central to the game’s design, encouraging cautious exploration rather than reckless combat.

Beyond combat and survival, Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L includes a firearm customization system that allows detailed modification of weapons. A variety of events are said to occur in real time while players explore, and a crafting system lets them use resources to upgrade their base and equipment. With no release date yet confirmed, interested players will have to wait for further word from Ice Quake Studios. For fans of extraction shooters, this blend of survival stats and top-down combat is one to keep an eye on.
