Phantom Blade Zero Sells 4 Million Copies in First 72 Hours

Geoff Keighley, creator and host of The Game Awards, has announced that Phantom Blade Zero (影之刃零) sold more than four million copies across all platforms within 72 hours of release. The figure covers every platform the game launched on. Keighley shared the milestone publicly in the days following the game’s October 29 debut. The action title, developed by Chinese studio S-Game (灵游坊), has become one of the fastest-selling releases of the year according to the numbers he cited.
The sales milestone arrived alongside a notable concurrent player statistic. Keighley reported that the PC version peaked at 833,921 simultaneous players, which he described as a new record for a single-player game launch in 2026. The 72-hour window is a common benchmark publishers use to gauge initial demand, and crossing four million copies in that period places the game among the year’s strongest debuts. Both figures were shared as official numbers rather than estimates.

Keighley has been closely tied to Phantom Blade Zero’s marketing. In December 2025, he used The Game Awards stage to reveal the game’s release date to a global audience for the first time. In August 2026, he personally released an 11-minute trailer and confirmed that pre-orders had opened. That extended trailer drew discussion from overseas players, with some remarking that it looked less like a trailer and more like a film, while others praised the development team’s confidence.
Phantom Blade Zero is built by S-Game on Unreal Engine 5 and places players in a dark wuxia world as “Soul,” a swordsman with only 66 days left to live. The game launched on October 29, with the standard edition priced at ¥268 (~$38) in the China region. The early sales data suggests the wuxia setting and cinematic presentation resonated well beyond the domestic market — a promising sign for future Chinese action titles aiming at a global audience.
