Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Gets World-First Demo at TGS 2026
Capcom has revealed the first wave of its Tokyo Game Show 2026 plans, headlined by a world-first playable demo of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. The event runs September 17–21 at Makuhari Messe, with the first two days reserved for business. Alongside the Monster Hunter showcase, playable builds of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen and Rockman: Dual Override will make their Japan debuts. Capcom also confirmed an online broadcast, ‘Capcom Spotlight | TGS 2026,’ scheduled for September 16 at 23:00 JST with a runtime of approximately 40 minutes. Playable demos across the booth will come with limited-edition microfiber handkerchief bonuses.
The Ascendance demo presents three quest types. Experienced players can hunt a newly revealed flying monster across the floating ruins field ‘Kumoi no Iseki-gun,’ which is freely explorable while riding a Seikret. A second quest targets a returning Elder Dragon, whose identity will be announced during the September 16 Capcom Spotlight broadcast. Beginners get a tutorial-led hunt against Chatakabra. Every quest incorporates new actions powered by the ‘Boost Bracer’ system. Single-play tickets allow visitors to pick one of the three quests, while multiplayer sessions group four players together. Trial tickets will be distributed first-come, first-served near the Ascendance booth corner while supplies last.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen makes its Japan-first playable appearance, offering six selectable jobs — Fighter, Archer, Mage, Thief, Sorcerer, and Warrior — across quests tuned for veterans, confident players, and first-timers. Quests can be reselected within the play session. Rockman: Dual Override also debuts playable in Japan, letting visitors tackle ‘Twinkle Girl’ stages 1–3 and test the new Override system. Additional playable titles include Pragmata, a puzzle-action SF adventure with gameplay details to be announced, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which requires 18+ age verification via ID before playing, and Street Fighter 6, whose demo specifics will be shared later.

The Capcom Spotlight | TGS 2026 program will showcase Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Rockman: Dual Override, and Street Fighter 6. On-site, Capcom is hosting a Biohazard (Resident Evil) shooting range in collaboration with airsoft manufacturer Tokyo Marui, restricted to visitors 18 and older with valid identification, plus a Street Fighter: The Movie exhibit featuring filming costumes and a life-size Zangief photo spot. A lottery will grant CAPCOM ID members priority access to the Ascendance and Dark Arisen demos on public days, with applications closing September 9 at 13:00. Between the world-first demo and this packed lineup, Capcom’s TGS 2026 booth is shaping up to be a major draw for fans of the publisher’s biggest franchises.
