Monster Hunter Outlanders Launches Oct 29, Reveals Golden Dragon
Monster Hunter Outlanders, the mobile title developed by TiMi Studio Group under Capcom’s license, is set to officially launch on October 29, 2026. The game appeared at Tokyo Game Show 2026 (TGS2026), where a media playtest session showcased the newly revealed area known as the Ruined Abyss. Producers from both TiMi Studio Group and Capcom also sat down for an interview to discuss the original Elder Dragon Luga Earda, the adventurer training system, and their plans following launch. The title is slated for release worldwide except mainland China.
The playtest focused on hunting Luga Earda, a newly revealed original Elder Dragon whose body is covered in golden scales. According to the producers, its design concept is a “holy knight clad in golden armor.” It charges with its massive body, leaps high using its giant wings before gliding to attack, and can form a lance-like object from its wings or wrap them in light energy to defend. Its helmet-shaped head shell gives it a knightly presence. Luga Earda is tied to various anomalies on Isolesia Island, alongside elements such as the Fusion Stone and Fused Light species.

TiMi Studio Group’s producers explained that the adventurer training system was planned from early development. It was introduced to differentiate the mobile title from the main series and to avoid placing too much emphasis on gradually improving player skill alone. Players form teams of adventurers and can experience various weapon types. Trained adventurers can help lower the difficulty for newcomers. Meanwhile, the series’ traditional equipment crafting and upgrading remains, designed as a combined approach with the adventurer system to keep the mobile game’s pacing light.

Isolesia Island serves as the game’s base setting, described as a vast region with noticeable elevation changes. Following launch, the team plans to deliver adventures on this island first, unlocking fields with various landscapes as the story progresses. At TGS2026, visitors could try the new Ruined Abyss area, a subterranean cavern reached through a special method in the main story. The producers noted that future updates may add more fields and related monsters, though content beyond Isolesia Island remains undecided. Monster Hunter Outlanders is a free-to-play mobile title. For players new to the franchise, it looks like an accessible entry point worth watching when it launches.
