MARVEL Cosmic Invasion Physical Editions Launch for PS5 and Switch
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, the side-scrolling beat ’em up featuring 15 Marvel superheroes, has launched physical editions for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2026. The game was developed through a collaboration between Tribute Games, Dotemu, and Marvel Games, offering a fresh take on the classic belt-scrolling action genre. Digital versions were previously released on December 2, 2025, making the physical release the latest availability option for collectors and fans who prefer boxed copies. The game combines dynamic combat with distinctive pixel art animation that pays homage to classic arcade aesthetics while featuring modern Marvel characters.
The game features 15 playable Marvel characters including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Venom, Iron Man, Black Panther, Phoenix, and Silver Surfer among others. Players can utilize the Cosmic Swap Tag System to select two characters and switch between them in real-time during combat, creating original combos and unleashing powerful special moves. The game supports both local and online cooperative play for up to four players, with the combat system automatically adjusting difficulty based on player count. This allows seamless joining or leaving during gameplay sessions.
Physical editions are available in standard and deluxe versions across different platforms. The standard PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch editions retail for ¥5,980 (~$42), while the Nintendo Switch 2 standard edition is ¥7,480 (~$52). Deluxe editions include an original box, steelbook case, 15 character cards, and 3 sticker sheets, priced at ¥8,980 (~$63) for PS5/Switch and ¥9,980 (~$70) for Switch 2. Digital versions are priced at ¥4,950 (~$35) for PS5/PS4/Switch/Switch 2. The deluxe edition is a limited release that will cease production once stocks are depleted.
The game includes both campaign and arcade modes, with the campaign immersing players in Marvel’s universe as they battle villains like Thanos, MODOK, and Taskmaster who serve under Annihilus. Locations span from New York and Wakanda to the depths of the Negative Zone, showcasing diverse Marvel settings. The pixel art animation preserves Marvel’s classic character designs while adding rich animation effects, and the original soundtrack by Tee Lopes provides energetic music fitting for cosmic battles.
