KFC Launches Global Rebrand with Boneless Chicken Focus and New Visual Identity

KFC has announced a major global rebranding initiative called the “Next Chapter,” aimed at modernizing the fast-food chain through menu innovation, store redesigns, and visual updates. The overhaul will gradually roll out across more than 34,000 locations spanning over 150 countries worldwide. The initiative represents one of the most comprehensive brand transformations in the company’s history, with KFC’s global CEO stating that the goal is to establish a new benchmark for modern fast-food chicken.
Responding to younger consumer preferences, KFC is significantly expanding its boneless chicken product lineup, focusing on dip-friendly chicken strips and snackable options. The brand has introduced a global sauce library featuring over 20 flavors, including Argentine chimichurri and spicy honey sauce. Additionally, a new beverage sub-brand called KWENCH will debut with offerings like bubble tea and iced coffee, set to launch permanently in Australia and Canada.

KFC has refreshed its logo and Colonel Sanders image, building a new “Bucketverse” visual universe centered around the brand’s iconic bucket packaging. The first batch of open-concept stores will debut this summer in Texas, USA, while a two-story immersive flagship location will open in Dubai. These store designs aim to create a more modern and engaging dining environment for customers.

Yum China, which operates KFC in the country, has operated independently from Yum Brands since 2016 and maintains significant decision-making autonomy. This means the global brand upgrade carries no binding authority over the Chinese market, allowing Yum China to decide its own pace and degree of implementation. However, new logos, packaging, and the Bucketverse visual system are expected to gradually arrive in China to maintain global brand consistency. This selective localization approach reflects KFC’s strategy of balancing global brand identity with regional market flexibility. The shift toward boneless chicken marks a significant strategic turn for the brand, prioritizing convenience and modern snacking habits over the traditional bone-in experience. Whether this pays off remains to be seen, but it is certainly a bold move for the iconic fried chicken chain.
