Horii and Kaneshiro Collab Board Game Karma x Cross Launches August 6
Any has announced that the digital board game Tensei Game: Karma x Cross (転生ゲーム カルマxクロス) will launch for Nintendo Switch on August 6, 2026. The title is a collaboration between Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and Blue Lock author Muneyuki Kaneshiro. Players who have lost their lives in an accident participate in a reincarnation game to be reborn into an ideal next life. Four competitors battle across 22 turns to collect Karma, the currency of the reincarnation realm, in order to purchase soul vessels (utsuswa) that determine their future form. However, only three out of four participants can successfully reincarnate.
The game joins two major figures from distinctly different entertainment worlds. Yuji Horii is the creator of the legendary Dragon Quest series, one of Japan’s most beloved and influential RPG franchises. Muneyuki Kaneshiro is the original author of the hit soccer manga Blue Lock, as well as the horror survival manga As the Gods Will. Their collaboration on a board game brings together Horii’s decades of game design experience with Kaneshiro’s talent for high-stakes, elimination-style storytelling. The project is planned and produced by Any, with development and publishing handled by Arte Piazza.

Tensei Game: Karma x Cross is a digital sugoroku (board game) where players move across the game board using an eight-sided die. The match is structured as 22 total turns, split into a first half of 11 turns and a second half of 11 turns. According to the press release, everything in the game transforms into Karma, including good deeds, evil acts, trust, betrayal, love, friendship, and curses. Players must sometimes harden their hearts and eliminate other participants to secure enough Karma to purchase a suitable soul vessel. The game supports 1 to 4 players, with local and online multiplayer accommodating 2 to 4 participants.

The game will be released as a digital download exclusively for Nintendo Switch, and is also compatible with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is set at ¥3,980 (~$27 / ~¥196). Online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online subscription. For internet matchmaking, random battles support up to 2 players per console, while friend matches allow up to 3 players on a single device. With the combined pedigree of Horii’s RPG legacy and Kaneshiro’s gripping narrative style, this unconventional board game collaboration is certainly one to watch for fans of either creator’s work.
