Hela: of Mice & Magic Gets December 1, 2026 Release Date
Knights Peak Interactive and developer Windup Games have announced that the open-world adventure game Hela: of Mice & Magic will launch on December 1, 2026. The title is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In Japan, physical and digital versions will be offered for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, while the Xbox Series X|S and PC versions will be released digitally only. Alongside the release date, the studio also shared a new CGI story trailer that showcases the game’s fairy-tale setting and its upcoming emotional journey.
At gamescom 2025 in Germany, the game earned two honors: Most Entertaining and Most Wholesome. According to the publisher, it is a heartfelt open-world adventure set in a fairy-tale world full of surprises. The project is also notable as the first title in eight years from the creators behind a celebrated co-op series that drew worldwide attention. Its setting draws on the natural landscapes of Northern Europe, a backdrop that shapes the game’s overall tone and presentation.

In Hela: of Mice & Magic, players take on the role of a small mouse who journeys across a vast world to save a wizard who has fallen ill. The adventure centers on agile, athletic action powered by a “magic frog backpack,” alongside “insight puzzles” that make use of object weight and physics. Players can also gather materials to brew magic potions and help the animal friends of the forest, a mechanic that reinforces the game’s gentle tone. Curiosity-driven exploration is described as a core part of the experience.

The game supports up to four players in online multiplayer, as well as local two-player split-screen. For solo players, a range of support features is included. According to the publisher, the experience is designed to appeal to those who rarely play games as well as puzzle fans, offering something akin to turning the pages of a picture book. The blend of a warm world and cooperative play makes this a cozy adventure worth watching when it arrives later this year.
