GTA6 PS5 Install Size Hits 210GB as Nintendo Sets Indie World

The October 28, 2026 news cycle opened with a mix of long-term franchise planning and hard technical details. Capcom senior executive officer and series producer Jun Takeuchi said in an interview with Japanese media that the current Resident Evil main storyline, which has unfolded across multiple titles, is expected to reach its conclusion within the next decade. He emphasized that the wrap-up will not happen in a single game and will instead be advanced step by step across several releases, with the upcoming Requiem serving as a milestone rather than a final ending. Alongside that, Nintendo confirmed a new indie showcase, GTA6’s download size surfaced, and Phantom Blade Zero continued to build commercial momentum.
Nintendo has confirmed that its next Indie World showcase will air at 22:00 Beijing time on October 28, focusing squarely on independent games headed to Switch and Switch 2. The program is scheduled to run approximately 25 minutes. Unlike some expectations of a comprehensive Nintendo Direct, this broadcast is dedicated to the indie lineup rather than the platform holder’s full slate of first-party announcements. The format follows Nintendo’s established pattern of separating smaller independent showcases from its larger seasonal presentations.

According to a PlayStation backend tracking account, the PS5 version of GTA6 will require roughly 210GB of download space. The same report states that preloading will begin on November 12, 2026, exactly one week before the game’s November 19 launch. That window allows players to download the full package to their console ahead of time and start playing as soon as the title unlocks. The figure places the open-world release among the larger installs seen on current-generation hardware.

A report from third-party analytics firm Alinea Analytics states that Phantom Blade Zero has accumulated 850,000 preorders, split 73.8% on PC and 26.2% on PS5, generating roughly $43 million (~¥310 million) in revenue. Regional data shows 62.5% of preorders came from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, with mainland players accounting for 75.9% of PC preorders and 24.9% of PS5 preorders. After reviews went live, the game reached a Metacritic score of 88 and sold an additional 80,000-plus copies. It launches October 29 on PC and PS5, and trophy tracking sites show two players had already unlocked the platinum trophy on October 24 and 25 — before release. For a title that has not yet launched, this is an unusually strong commercial start and one worth watching once the full release lands.
