GTA 6 Tops Pre-Order Charts as 60FPS Mode and Switch 2 Plans Surface

A flurry of Grand Theft Auto VI news has emerged this week, with the upcoming title from Rockstar Games currently leading pre-order sales charts on PlayStation and Xbox platforms despite launching five months away. Multiple reports have also surfaced regarding technical specifications and platform availability, including rumored plans for a 60 frames-per-second performance mode and a potential Nintendo Switch 2 port arriving in 2027. The standard edition is priced at $79.99 (~¥575), while the ultimate edition costs $99.99 (~¥720), with pre-orders including a retro-themed Vice City pack and select digital GTA+ membership benefits. No official pre-order figures have been confirmed by Rockstar or its parent company Take-Two Interactive.
According to the Polish podcast program “Rock and Borys,” which cites sources close to Rockstar Games, GTA VI will offer two graphical options on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X: a 30 FPS quality mode and a 60 FPS performance mode. The development team is reportedly working to polish both modes ahead of launch. However, if the 60 FPS mode fails to meet internal targets by release, the feature may be added via a free update patch post-launch. These details remain unconfirmed by Rockstar, as the company has not issued an official statement regarding frame rate options.

VICE News reports that insider Nash Weedle has revealed Rockstar has begun development on a Nintendo Switch 2 version of GTA VI, with porting efforts currently underway and a third-party studio assisting with adaptation. The Switch 2 version is expected to launch in 2027 and will not arrive simultaneously with other platforms. Neither Nintendo nor Rockstar has officially confirmed this information. Meanwhile, a PC release date remains unannounced, with the title currently confirmed only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
