Fuga: Melodies of Steel Intermission #93 Details Lunar Shuttle
The 93rd installment of the development record column for Fuga: Melodies of Steel has been published, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the manga adaptation of the series. The column, titled “Intermission,” is produced by developer CyberConnect2 and details recent creative decisions made during production. This entry focuses on a mysterious sealed item that has never appeared in the game, the depiction of character Malt’s unique perspective, and the design of the interstellar shuttle that carries the children toward the moon. It also confirms when the next chapter will arrive and previews the story’s upcoming setting.
According to the column, a bandage-like wrapping featured in the artwork serves as a seal — an item that has not appeared in the game itself. Despite the wrapping being present, earlier scenes were drawn so that it appeared almost as if it were visible to the reader. This installment finally explains, at least partially, that the bandage functions as a seal. The piece also highlights how Malt’s point of view renders certain elements faintly visible, an effect conceived by manga artist Adachi-sensei. The column notes this is the first time readers can see what that perspective actually looks like.

Adachi-sensei asked where the children are located when the Taranis is loaded onto the interstellar shuttle. In the game, the journey to the moon by shuttle matches the adaptation, but the finer details were omitted due to production workload. The team decided the children should move to the shuttle’s cockpit rather than remain inside the Taranis. Although Chati handles the piloting, the creators felt it odd for the children to wait quietly inside, so seating was designed to accommodate all of them. This discussion shaped the artwork that followed.

(Note: the interstellar shuttle has rarely been shown from the front in the game, though its full design exists.) Adachi-sensei was given that design and included a front-facing shot for the manga. Looking ahead, the story’s setting will shift to a lunar base beginning with the next installment. Chapter 94 is scheduled for publication on September 22, 2026. The column also notes that CyberConnect2 marked its 30th anniversary on February 16, 2026, and that president Matsuyama published a book, Game Industry Strategy Guide, aimed at aspiring developers. For longtime fans following the adaptation, this column continues to reward close attention to the manga’s subtle visual storytelling.
