Final Fantasy Tactics Enhanced Edition Gets Official Chinese Language Support
Square Enix has released a significant update for Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Ivalice Enhanced Edition, adding official support for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean languages. This language update is exclusive to the Enhanced Edition version of the classic tactical RPG. Originally released on the Game Boy Advance before receiving a remastered release, the game has long been sought after by Chinese-speaking fans who now finally have an official localization to experience the story in their native language.
One of the standout additions in this update is the “Strong One’s New Game” mode. Players who have completed the game can access this option from the title screen, allowing them to restart the main story while retaining unit levels and all held items. This New Game Plus feature offers veterans a fresh way to experience the narrative without losing their hard-earned progress, making subsequent playthroughs more accessible and rewarding.
The update also introduces several quality-of-life features. A new Zodiac Compatibility display lets players check unit zodiac signs and their compatibility on the stats screen. Battle information has been enhanced with real-time stat displays when moving or selecting targets. Quick action options include a “remove all equipment” button and clearer unlock conditions for unmastered jobs. Additionally, players can now save custom camera angle and zoom settings per battle, along with new options for auto-advancing event scenes and forcing chant dialogue during combat.
Beyond new features, this update includes text corrections across all supported languages, audio adjustments, improved stability, and various minor bug fixes. The game now remembers cursor positions in the battle menu’s skill section. While pricing and release specifics for the Chinese language version were not detailed in the announcement, this update marks a significant milestone for the title’s accessibility in Asian markets.
