Extetra HD Remaster Brings Kiss-Powered RPG to Switch 2 and PS5
FURYU Corporation released the HD remaster of its fantasy RPG Extetra (エクステトラ) today, September 3, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. The game carries a price of 3,278 yen including tax (about $22, or roughly ¥160), and a limited launch sale now underway across participating stores knocks 20 percent off, lowering the price to 2,622 yen (about $18, or roughly ¥128). Extetra first appeared in 2013 on PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. This time around, the kiss-powered adventure has reached modern platforms for a new audience.
Players take on the role of Ryoma, a protagonist said to be the chosen savior Prisma, one who can bring harmony to the other world and rescue two realms from annihilation — although he has lost his memories. Companions pulled from the real world into this strange realm can awaken as Prisma Knights, and Ryoma’s task is to find them and unlock their power through kisses, described as the only means of saving both worlds. The setting is a Tokyo that has merged with another world and carries a destiny of ruin, rendered through artwork by Tokyo Genso as a beautiful yet decadent landscape. Across this fused metropolis lie impossible labyrinths where players fight monsters, bypass blocking gimmicks, open treasure chests, and gather materials and items.
Combat in Extetra is built around turn-based command battles. Players assemble a party of up to four characters, manage front- and rear-line placements, and choose which skills to deploy, adapting tactics to each enemy’s traits and the state of battle, with an auto-battle option letting encounters proceed more quickly. Around Ryoma stands a voice-acted cast that includes the other world’s shrine maiden who guides the amnesiac hero, high school companions such as a 17-year-old aspiring idol, and further allies like a 16-year-old magical girl who treats Ryoma as a brother and an 18-year-old kendo club captain from a prestigious school, among others.
Extetra supports Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese and is designed for a single player. The HD remaster’s PC version launched on July 30, 2026, while the console edition arrived today across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. FURYU, headquartered in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward, serves as the publisher. Given its unusually romantic premise and the wider platform reach, this remaster is a tempting option for JRPG fans fond of eccentric storytelling — and the current launch discount makes the timing especially convenient to jump in.
