Cyberpunk Pawnshop Sim Sells 500,000 Copies in Two Days

Publisher tinyBuild and developer Questing Goose Studio have found an unexpected hit in a cyberpunk shop-management sim. 《深空当铺:可能是偷的》(Probably Stolen – Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim) launched on PC on October 28 and sold roughly 500,000 copies in about two days, making it one of the breakout indie releases of the year. The game puts players behind the counter of a pawnshop on a dystopian space station, where every deal carries a risk. Its rapid sales come on the back of a strong demo run during a week-long PC festival event in late October.
The game is set on a space station divided by wealth gaps and corruption. Players run a pawnshop in the lower district, serving a clientele that ranges from undercover law enforcement officers running sting operations to rebels hunting for leverage and fallen elites probing how useful you might be. Each transaction is framed as a gamble: players can trade fairly, pass off shoddy goods as quality merchandise, resell stolen items, or turn a customer in to earn reputation. But the higher the reputation, the more of a target the shopkeeper becomes.

Beyond the core pawnshop loop, players can take on other professions, including gunsmith, chemist, water seller, fence, and farmer, and each profit path carries its own hazards. Weapons tend to draw security inspections, chemicals can lead to addiction, and contraband can trigger surprise raids. Rent keeps climbing, stock can be seized, and deals can end in a loss, leaving players to balance ambition against survival while walking a tightrope on the station.

During the October 20 to 27 PC festival period, the game’s demo ranked second in total player numbers across the event. Following launch, it drew a peak of roughly 86,000 concurrent players and placed among the top sellers on the platform’s global charts. With close to 3,000 user reviews, 96 percent are positive. The developer noted that much of the 1.0 version was adjusted based on player feedback and survey responses, an unusually direct use of community data for a small studio. It will be worth watching whether that momentum holds.
